Tavira is a charming town east of Faro and I love to make a little day trip to this side of the coast. There are plenty of things to do in Tavira and many shops, restaurants, cute streets and traditional houses to discover. Here are my favourite things to do:
1. Wander the streets around Jardim da Alagoa and along the Gilão river on both sides. Here you will find pretty alleys with tiled houses covered with flowers, historic churches, a bridge from the Roman times and charming restaurants and cafés.
2. Climb up the medieval fortress for fantastic views of Tavira and Ria Formosa.
3. Check out the nice boutique shops such as Casa das Portas, Kozii, Ozadi and Erva loira.
4. Enjoy modern tapas and friendly service at Come na Gaveta.
5. Head to Cabanas de Tavira for a walk along Ria Formosa Nature Park, stop for a drink at the rooftop bar Quasi's.
