Fishing port and downtown Alvor
The downtown area of Alvor is relatively small but has everything you need for a good time out. Head to the fishing port to enjoy sunsets and sweeping views of the river and its sand dunes. From here, continue up the small hill and you will reach the more lively area. Here are a number of great restaurants, bars, and cafés.
Alvor beaches
My favorite beach in Alvor is Praia dos Três Irmãos. I like it for its big beautiful rocks and small caves that divide the beach into smaller more private areas. If you prefer a long stretch of sandy beach without cliffs and rocks, then Praia de Alvor is a good choice.
Ria de Alvor Nature Reserve
The nature reserve of Ria de Alvor is easily reached from the fishing harbor. The wooden boardwalk will guide you through this tranquil area. It is an excellent spot for bird watching. If you are lucky, you might spot some flamingos.
