Albufeira is one of the most popular destinations in the Algarve, offering plenty of tours and experiences. Things to do in Albufeira
Albufeira old town
Like any other town in the Algarve, a stroll around the old town is a must. Pass by cute local shops on Rua 5 de Outubro. Look at street performances at Jardim Publico de Albufeira. Walk up the hill (or the stairs) leading towards the beach for great views of the town and sea.
During nighttime, "The strip" is the liveliest part of Albufeira, these streets are full of bars, restaurants, neon lights, karaoke, and live music.
Albufeira beaches
Praia dos Pescadores is the town's main beach, easy to access from the old town and as such can get pretty busy. If you are looking for a more peaceful beach head to Praia Falesia (20min drive). Here you'll find a long stretch of sandy beach set against fascinating red cliffs, creating a unique vision.
Boat tours
Cruise along the coastline and enjoy marvellous rock formations and caves. There are many different boat tours embarking from the Albufeira marina.

Fun facts
The name Albufeira is from the Arabic “Al-buhera“, which means Sea Castle and refers to a castle that was destroyed by the earthquake in 1755. Locals say the nearby beach, Praia do Castelo used to be a pirate control point in the 16th century.
