It’s not often that it rains in the Algarve, but when it does, it's nice to have things to do that will keep you out of the rain. Here are my favourite, cozy things to do in Algarve on rainy days.
1. Treat Yourself to a Spa Day
Isn't it great to relax at a SPA while the rain is falling outside? There are several SPAs and wellness centers along the Algarve coast. The best is to do a quick google search and see what SPA hotels you have nearby. Some of the well-known spots are Sisley SPA at Vila Vita, Conrad SPA and the Osmos Wellness Center at Vidamar.
2. Shopping in the Algarve
Rainy days are perfect for shopping. My favourite shopping malls are Algarve Shopping close to Albufeira and Mar Shopping in Loulé. Right next to Mar Shopping you will find Algarve's designer outlet. A cute little shopping village with designer boutiques that are heavily discounted, how awesome is that? :)
3. Cozy up with a wine tasting
Wine tasting on a rainy day is guaranteed to bring you in a good mood. Learn about the culture and history of winemaking, taste typical Algarvian wine and enjoy the countryside views at family-run Quinta do Francês Winery or at the charming Morgado do Quintão vineyard.
4. Enjoy a Fado concert
Fado is the soul of Portuguese music, known for telling emotional stories by singing and playing guitar. You will find Fado concerts in many bars and restaurants. Here are a few of the well-known spots Porches Velho in Porches, Alma Lusa in Lagos and Recital de Guitarra Portuguesa in Faro.
5. Watch a game or read a book by the fireplace
Head to Dano's sports bar in Qunita do Lagoa. A beautiful, cozy and welcoming restaurant and bar with comfort food, live sport, a fireplace and live music on the weekends. Read more about Danos.
